Tips to Deal with Depression

Depression can be grade in terms of severity — meek, moderate, or severe. The level of your depression can determine how you’ll be treated. Most important in the treatment is the right attitude of those who are in contact with the patient, also an accurate diagnosis.

Happiness is a state which requires a conscious effort for a person to keep it alive in our daily life because of great deal of emotional stresses that we encounter at our workplaces and in families.

There are a number of dietary factors that can help with depression. Eating a high carbohydrate diet (whole-wheat bread, unsifted maize meal, brown rice) boosts the production of serotonin in the brain which makes you feel more positive. Eating plenty of protein (meat, fish, eggs, cheese, yoghurt, milk) to increase amino acid intake has the same effect. Alcohol and some drugs (recreational and prescription) can cause or exacerbate depression.

To avoid feelings of depression one needs to bravely face the reality which is truly subjective. It’s up to your mind how to perceive things differently. A person can feel happiness despite of hard times while another can remain dimmed even with happier moments in life. Depression is avoidable if a person can embrace the experience of feelings of depression. Depression occurs internally when a person’s mind and soul develop negative feelings. It has nothing to do with outer circumstances.

Take a walk or jog a while. If you’re into sports like basketball or baseball, go sweat it out in the court or on the field. Exercising helps the release of endorphins, which in turn stimulate happiness.

Depression is aggravated much by being alone. Depression self help works well when, you go out with others or let others involve you in their company/life activities. If you do not feel like doing something or doing it differently, openly ask your caring companions

If you want to solidify memories and events then you must tell good stories. With the help of stories you can interpret things easily and share some of your precious moments. Story telling is not only interesting it’s also a complete fun it would keep people’s interest in you for a long time.

Also getting professional help from a trained psychotherapist/psychiatrist is also part of depression self help. While it is important to strive your own way out of depressive mood, there is always need for professional help from an expert in psychological problems. Please remember that getting help for your mind is in no way an abnormal or awkward thing and it is part of life to seek health.

New Self Treatment of Anxiety Disorders

There are various treatments of anxiety include psychological and drug treatments and depend to a certain extent on the type of symptoms or disorder the person is suffering from.

Psychological treatments of Anxiety are often tried first. They may include learning about the symptoms and realizing that though they are frightening they are not medically dangerous. Relaxation techniques can also be helpful.

A persons full range of symptoms needs to be understood, this enables any underlying disorder that causes the Anxiety symptoms to be treated. In particular, if the Anxiety symptoms are secondary to a depressive illness then the focus of the treatment will be on the depressive illness.

The genetic basis of anxiety disorders may be further confirmed by studies of twins. Moreover, molecular biology today allows testing specific genetic hypotheses derived from clinical or neuro-imaging fields. With the aim of presenting a detailed and clear over-view of the genetic components of anxiety disorders and potential development of this idea we will discuss different anxiety disorders and their genetic background.

There are a number of drugs available that are specifically anti-Anxiety treatments. These include diazepam and lorazepam. These medicines are effective in quickly relieving the symptoms of Anxiety.

Anti - anxiety drugs, mild tranquilizers and antidepressants are prescribed for treating different kinds of Anxiety Disorders. A lot of choices are available in each drug class but it is not established yet, for what kind of Anxiety Disorders which drug is most effective. The effect of medication varies person to person. One drug does not give the desired results then the other drug is tried. This does not necessarily mean a patient need to be experimented with a number of drugs. The patient only need to take care or to be cared and be in contact with an expert who will monitor the effect of drug, may suggest a change in drug or make a drug continue till the patient overcome.

You may learn specific relaxation techniques either by your doctor or on the internet. However, it is recommended that you practise these techniques under your doctor's guidance initially so that both of you are confident that you are able to practise correct relaxation techniques. Daily routine of these relaxation techniques is necessary for controlling anxiety. You should also practice them whenever you feel the inner tension rising or when faced with situations that normally lead to anxiety.

In 1998 the National Institute of Health conducted a study at the University of Arizona. For sixteen weeks during this study they looked at the effects of acupuncture on thirty-four patients that were classified as being seriously depressed. There were three groups during this study. The first received depression targeted treatment, the second received false treatment with needles in nonspecific area and the third was placed on a waiting list before they started treatment for eight weeks.

A good exercise program, for about 30 minutes a day, will help the brain to work better through promoting the better functioning of your neurotransmitters. It also will help to produce more endorphins; will help you to fell better.

What Depression Therapy Actually Works?

Depression is a disorder which affects mind and body in a number of ways. It has many symptoms. They include loss of energy and lack of concentration. Other symptoms include sadness, anger and frustration. Extreme cases can lead the victim to attempt suicide. Depression can be caused by an unbalanced state of mind or some physical factor.

The various options for the treatment of depression varies from medication to psychotherapy to self help. Study suggests relaxation techniques may improve symptoms of depression (definitely in the case of mild depression).

Talking to someone close to you can go a long way in keeping away the blues. Your spouse/partner, your parents, your siblings or your close friends can be your pillar of strength during this depressive phase. Always remember… those who love you, will not judge you based on your weaknesses and will definitely give you the support you need.

The biggest problem with depression is how it affects the lives of those who live or work with the person with the condition; now after many years of research, medicine has recognized a number of types all with slightly different symptoms. Even though there are number of types, they are all based around some issue in the life of the affected person that has never been resolved; almost every person will suffer from it (usually to a lesser degree) from time to time during their lives.

Depressive illnesses make you feel exhausted, worthless, helpless and hopeless. Such negative thoughts and feelings make some people feel like giving up. It is important to realize that these negative views are part of the depression and typically do not accurately reflect your situation. Negative thinking fades as treatment begins to take effect.

In a therapy process, the person is exposed to a therapist who advices the patient to balance his thoughts. The depressed person can also consult a doctor and prescribe suitable drugs to deal with different cases of depression. People are often hospitalized so that they do not hurt themselves being influenced by their own depression. Proper care is taken for them. In severe cases shock treatment is also used. The patient is given electric shocks to let out the internal shocks which are caused by the depression.

If there is no obvious cause for the depression, or if reactive depression persists longer than might be expected, or if you are having suicidal thoughts, more aggressive therapy is needed. This means drug therapy and, possibly, hospitalization. The mainstay of drug treatment has long been a group of medications called tricyclic antidepressants, including amoxapine (Asendin), clomipramine (Anafranil), desipramine (Norpramin), imipramine (Tofranil), and nortriptyline (Aventyl, Pamelor). These drugs do not take effect immediately, so a test period of at least two weeks is necessary to determine whether they are working.

Heartburn Feeling and Indigestion

Heartburn, a painful, burning feeling in the chest, is caused by stomach acid flowing back into the esophagus. It is a burning discomfort that is generally felt in the chest just behind the breastbone. The burning sensation results when harsh stomach juices come in contact with and irritate the delicate lining of the esophagus. (Also known as acid indigestion or pyrosis). A burning sensation felt in the chest and throat when acid from the stomach leaks up into the esophagus. During pregnancy, the muscle at the top of the stomach that usually prevents digestive acids from going back up relaxes, allowing gastric juices to splash back. Heartburn or pyrosis is a painful or burning sensation in the esophagus, just below the breastbone caused by regurgitation of gastric acid. The pain often rises in the chest and may radiate to the neck, throat, or angle of the jaw.

Continual bouts of heartburn can be a symptom of a more serious condition called gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD. Frequent or severe heartburn may limit daily activities and lead to further complications such as ulcers in the esophagus. With proper understanding of heartburn and treatment, relief can be obtained from this condition.

Antacids, acid blockers, and perhaps surgery may provide relief from heartburn and prevent it from turning into more serious disease.

For mild or occasional symptoms, simple lifestyle modifications can be helpful. Avoid large meals.
Avoid caffeine (coffee, teas, some soft drinks).
Avoid foods or drinks that reduce pressure on the lower esophageal sphincter such as chocolate, peppermint, caffeine-containing beverages, and fatty or fried foods.
Avoid foods that damage the esophagus such as spicy foods, citrus fruits and juices, tomatoes and tomato sauces.
After eating, beware of activities that force acid back into your esophagus. Such activities include lifting, straining, coughing, and wearing tight clothing.
Avoid the foods and beverages that trigger your heartburn symptoms or relax the sphincter muscle. (These may include onions, peppermint, chocolate, caffeine-containing beverages and foods, citrus fruits or juices, tomatoes, or high-fat foods). A good way to figure out what foods cause your symptoms is to keep a heartburn diary.
Shed some pounds. If you are overweight, losing weight by following a healthy weight loss plan can help relieve your symptoms.
Stop smoking. Nicotine can weaken the lower esophageal sphincter, the muscle that controls the opening between the esophagus and stomach and prevents the acid-containing contents of the stomach from entering the esophagus.
Many women will experience heartburn during their pregnancy. Even for women who have never experienced it before, heartburn may occur for the first time while they are pregnant. That burning sensation in the chest and throat, and sour, acidic taste in the mouth, may become an all too familiar sensation for some of them.

Treatment medication for Heartburn
Antacids work by neutralizing acid in the stomach. They are usually the first remedy doctors will recommend patients take to relief heartburn symptoms. Antacids include Rolaids, Maalox, Mylanta, Tums, Gaviscon, and Chooz.
H2 blockers, also called H2 receptor agonists, are medicines that reduce the amount of acid the stomach produces. H2 blockers include Axid, Pepcid, Tagamet, and Zantac.
Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are a group of medications that prevent the release of acid in the stomach and intestines. PPIs include Aciphex, Nexium, Prevacid, Prilosec, and Protonix.

Treatment and Common Symptoms of Hemorrhoids

The term hemorrhoids refers to a condition in which the veins around the anus or lower rectum are swollen and inflamed. Fortunately, effective medications and procedures are readily available to treat hemorrhoids. In many cases hemorrhoids may require only self-care and lifestyle changes.

Although many people have hemorrhoids, not all experience symptoms. The most common symptom of internal hemorrhoids is bright red blood covering the stool, on toilet paper, or in the toilet bowl. However, an internal hemorrhoid may protrude through the anus outside the body, becoming irritated and painful. This is known as a protruding hemorrhoid.

Hemorrhoids are common. In the USA, the prevalence is about 4.4%. It is estimated that approximately one half of all Americans have had this condition by the age of 50, and that 50% to 85% of the world's population will be affected by hemorrhoids at some time in their life. However, only a small number seek medical treatment. Annually, only about 500,000 in the U.S. are medically treated for massive hemorrhage, with 10 to 20% of them requiring surgeries.

Unless there is rectal bleeding, most people with hemorrhoids can diagnose and treat the problem themselves. If you have rectal bleeding, it is important for you to see a physician, so he or she can check for more dangerous causes of bleeding.

Listed below are the most frequent causes of hemorrhoids:

Constant sitting
Straining with bowel movements (from constipation or hard stools)
Diarrhea
Sitting on the toilet for a long time
Severe coughing
Childbirth
Heavy Lifting
If the hemorrhoid originates at the top (rectal side) of the anal canal, it is referred to as an internal hemorrhoid. If it originates at the lower end of the anal canal near the anus, it is referred to as an external hemorrhoid. Technically, the differentiation between internal and external hemorrhoids is made on the basis of whether the hemorrhoid originates above or below the dentate line.

Measures to reduce symptoms include:

warm tub or sitz baths several times a day in plain, warm water for about 10 minutes
ice packs to help reduce swelling
application of petroleum jelly, cortisone creams, hemorrhoidal cream (such as Preparation-H) or suppositories to the affected area
wearing cotton underwear and loose clothing
cleaning the anus after each bowel movement by patting gently with moist toilet paper or moistened pads
taking acetaminophen or aspirin
Treatment may include warm baths and a cream or other medicine. If you have large hemorrhoids, you may need surgery and other treatments. There is no relationship between hemorrhoids and cancer. However, the symptoms of hemorrhoids, particularly bleeding, are similar to those of colorectal cancer and other diseases of the digestive system. Therefore, it is important that all symptom are investigated by a physician specially trained in treating diseases of the colon and rectum.

Feeling Irritated by Acid Reflux or Acidity

Acid Reflux or acidity is the backward flow of the stomach contents into the esophagus (muscular tube through which ingested food passes from the mouth area to the stomach). It is due to improper functioning of a sphincter, a circular muscle which normally maintains constriction at the lower end of the esophagus. This backflow of stomach acid into the esophagus is called acidity. Acid reflux generally occurs because the lower esophageal sphincter relaxes and allows harsh stomach juices flow into the esophagus. It is also known as gastroesophageal reflux or heartburn. Acid reflux is a muscular weakness disease, not an acid problem. However, since there are no standard treatments to address the problem directly, acid blocking medications are commonly used to treat the problem.

Treatment of Acid Reflux
Antacids neutralize digestive acids and are the primary drugs for mild symptoms. They are best used alone for relief of occasional and unpredictable episodes of heartburn. They all work by neutralizing the acid in the stomach. They may also stimulate the defensive systems in the stomach by increasing bicarbonate and mucous secretion.

Calcium. Calcium carbonate (Tums, Titralac, and Alka-2) is a potent and rapid acting antacid that can cause constipation. These antacids are actually sources of calcium.

Aluminum. Aluminum salts (Amphogel, Alternagel) are also available. The most common side effect of antacids containing aluminum salts is constipation.

Diet and Prevention of Acidity or Heartburns
First of all, try to eat small, frequent meals instead of three big meals a day. Small amounts of food each time would exert less workload on the stomach and therefore requires less acid secretion for digestion.
Make sure to include foods that are high in complex carbohydrates in each meal. These foods, such as rice, breads and pasta, are able to tie up excess stomach acid and are often easy on the stomach.
Avoid high-fat meals such as those from the fast food chains.
High fat foods will remain in the stomach longer, thus causing the need for more stomach acid in order to digest them.
Eating too much of any foods will stimulate the stomach to secret more acids for digestion.
Avoid or limit alcohol
Maintain upright position during and at least 45 minutes after eating
Try elevating the head of bed six to eight inches when lying down.
Control your weight. Being overweight is one of the strongest risk factors for heartburn. Excess pounds put pressure on your abdomen, pushing up your stomach and causing acid to back up into your esophagus.
Eat smaller meals. This reduces pressure on the lower esophageal sphincter, helping to prevent the valve from opening and acid from washing back into your esophagus.
Eliminate heartburn triggers. Common triggers such as fatty or fried foods, alcohol, chocolate, peppermint, garlic, onion, tomatoes, caffeine and nicotine may make heartburn worse.
Avoid stooping or bending. Tying your shoes is OK.
Raise the head of your bed. An elevation of about six to nine inches puts gravity to work for you.
Don't smoke. Smoking may increase stomach acid. The swallowing of air during smoking may also aggravate belching and acid reflux. In addition, smoking and alcohol increase your risk of esophageal cancer.

How to Reduce Flatulence and Gas?

Flatulence, commonly known as gas is a state of excessive gas in the alimentary canal. Indigestion and gas can be caused by poor eating habits, emotional tension, food allergies, imbalances in stomach acid or digestive enzymes, and many other causes.

Half of the world's population develops gas and cramping after drinking milk because they lack the intestinal enzyme that is necessary to break down the double sugar in milk called lactose. If lactose is not absorbed in the upper intestinal tract, bacteria ferment it in the colon to release gas.

Betaine hydrochloric acid will help digest excess food that your digestive system can't handle on its own and help relieve gas, bloating, and an upset stomach. Older people especially are low in this very necessary acid. Take 1-2 tablets with any large meal. Pancreatic enzymes will also be helpful.

Carbonated water encourages belching to relieve the gas.
Celery seeds Chew (but don't swallow) a teaspoon of seeds. This remedy is supposed to provide quick relief.
Fennel helps improve digestion and aids in expelling trapped gas in the digestive tract. Make a tea by pouring one cup of boiling water over 1-2 teaspoons of the dried herb; cover; steep for fifteen minutes; strain. This remedy is excellent for babies who have colic, too. Give the baby 1/4 cup of tea diluted with an equal amount of water in a bottle before each feeding.
Ginger - Mix one teaspoon of fresh grated ginger with one teaspoon of lime juice; take immediately after eating.
Chamomile helps improve digestion and aids in expelling trapped gas in the digestive tract.
Activated charcoal will bind to the gas. Take two tablets before and after meals. Do not take with other medications, supplements, or birth control pills, as it binds to them, too. Do not use on a long term basis, only for temporary relief.
Dry grind 1 tsp of pepper, 1 tsp of dry ginger and 1 tsp of green cardamom seeds. Add 1/2 tsp of this mixture to water and drink after 1 hour after meal.
Chewing peppermint serves as an effective fart home remedy treatment, as it contains menthol that aids in treating the problem of flatulence. Peppermint contains menthol that soothes the digestive muscles. It helps in treating flatulence, bloating and abdominal pain that accompanies gas. Peppermint oil combined with caraway oil has been used since ages to treat abdominal discomfort caused by flatulence.
Gas or flatulence can to a great extent be remedied at home using kitchen cures.
Mix 2 tsp of brandy with a cup of warm water and drink this before going to bed.
A drop of dill oil in a tsp of honey taken immediately after a meal should be of great help.
Another remedy that works for gas is one or two tablespoons of apple cidervinegar before bed.
Antacids containing simethicone, a foaming agent that joins gas bubbles in the stomach so that gas is more easily burped away.
A high fiber diet — whether the fiber is from foods (fruits, vegetables, whole grains) or supplements (Metamucil type products), try cutting back somewhat on your fiber intake. Also, be sure to drink plenty of water to aid in digestion.

Treating Oily Hair

The key to controlling oily hair is to remove the sebum adequately from the scalp.

Oily Hair attracts dust and needs frequent washing. Hair may become more oily during times of illness or stress. Looks good for a day or two after shampooing but then quickly becomes lifeless. Use a shampoo and conditioner designed for oily hair and use conditioner only on the ends of your hair. This type of hair is more prone to dandruff.

Use a gentle, non aggressive shampoo that also gives the hair volume. A light perm will lift the hair at the roots and limit the dispersal of sebum.

Oily or Greasy hair looks lank and oily and needs frequent washing. Oily hair can be due to a hormonal imbalance; a diet too hygiene fatty foods; washing too often; or sometimes because the scalp has larger oil glands than normal.

Rethink of your diet - reduce dairy fats and greasy foods. Try to eat plenty of fresh food and drink six to eight glasses of water every day.

Quality of your hair depends on your general health. Protein rich diet, with a profuse use of fruits and fresh vegetables is good for beautiful and healthy hair. So, before you look for a magical product to make yourself beautiful, be sure to remember the basics: lots of water and lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Vitamin E can help your hair to have more shine, and you can get this much needed vitamin by incorporating brown rice, nuts, wheat germ and leafy green vegetables into your diet.

The good news is that oily hair can be managed successfully with home remedies, including things you'll find in your very own kitchen.

An excellent remedy for oily hair - Make an infusion by boiling some mint in one glass of water for 15 minutes and then strain the solution and add it to a 300 ml bottle of shampoo and mix.

Shampoo that contains tea tree oil can work well for alleviating dry scalp, if dry scalp is the primary cause of the oily hair. While diet has little affect on hair itself, eating a healthy diet and drinking plenty of fluids can help with dry skin and scalp too, and since dry scalp causes oil product that can lead to oily hair, diet can affect how much oil your scalp produces. Drinking water is not only good for your oily hair and dry scalp, but it's also great for your skin health too.

Another good home remedy is to mix a tablespoon of malt vinegar in a glass of water and add a pinch of salt. Then put two tablespoons on your scalp and massage it with your fingertips. Repeat this two times a week will help reduce the oil on your scalp.

Another habit that may increase the appearance of oily hair is frequent grooming. Combing and brushing aid in the movement of sebum from the scalp down the hair shaft. The hair should be handled as little as possible.

Stress in other parts of your life (such as the fluctuating hormones of the female cycle) will affect the state of your hair, so be aware of your mental and emotional health and take time every day to wind down and relax. Regular exercise can also reduce stress levels and restore bodily health.

Skin Care tips and Cleansing Routine

Wash your face with water and a facial cleanser. It is not advised to use anything that you may use on the rest of your body; so your bar soaps and other body washes are out. Make sure you buy a facial cleanser instead. It is recommended to use a thicker 'cream' cleanser in the winter (because your skin is more prone to drying out) and a lighter 'gel-like' cleanser in the summer (you definitely want a lighter cleanser for the summer because it's more refreshing). Either way, try it at your own pacing.

Liquid cleansers are sometimes called cleansing milks, cleansing lotions or gels and have the consistency of thin to moderately thick body lotion. To apply, spread a small amount over dry or damp skin then wipe off with a damp face cloth or rinse off with lukewarm water.

Breakouts on the lower cheeks relate to the gums and back teeth. This is a sign that you have a hole in your tooth or possibly gum disease and you should definitely schedule some time to see your dentist.

Sebum production speeds up in the summer which contributes to grimy summer skin. You may want to sneak in an extra daily cleansing during warm weather.

A lot of women forget this very important item in their facial cleansing processes. Toner not only cleans off all the remaining residue from your facial cleanser but also cleans and polishes your skin and closes your pores after being opened by the hot water and cleanser. It also preps your skin for further moisturizing.

Do not spend money on expensive skin cleansers, because a cleanser is going to be on your skin for only a few seconds before being rinsed away. Save your beauty cash for moisturizers, sunscreens, intensive treatments and other products that will sit on your skin for a while.

Start taking care of your skin when you're young and make it a habit. You will benefit from it later in the future, I can assure you. Always moisturize; don't skimp simply because you're too tired or too lazy. Once it's a habit, it should be easy enough, but it is so important to make it a habit in the first place.

The good news is that protecting your skin from the sun and tanning gradually will cut the cost of sunbathing. You will develop fewer lines and greatly reduce the chances of suffering skin disease. The key to safer tanning is to know your skin type and to use adequate protection.

Diet is also of vital importance and no skin can be healthy without proper nutrition. Try to avoid too much of carbohydrates, sugar, fried and greasy foods, cakes and alcohol which can cause blemishes and blotchiness on the skin's surface.

Cleansing creams goes deeper into the pores and clean them thoroughly and is an integral part of treatment for multiple chemical sensitivity, pesticide and chemical exposure as well as therapy for chronic fatigue syndrome.

Getting plently of sleep is an important element in managing stress levels and thus your skin. If you're not getting eight hours of sleep every night, stress levels become harder to manage and this can lead to more breakouts.

Power Tips to Stay Forever Young

Eat a light breakfast Try a protein smoothie, a handful of soaked almonds, and fruit. Lunchtime is when our digestive fire is at its peak. This can be a heavier meal Dinner should be light, with few carbohydrates i.e. sugar, bread, etc.

As well as damaging your lungs, the ageing effects on the skin are dramatic. Smoking damages the skin's collagen, etches lines around the mouth and eyes, and causes drier, rougher skin.

Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

In order to look graceful and young, it is important that you take proper care of your body. One should remember that early steps will help in strengthening the body and revitalizing the skin. An early care of the body will help you in preparing a foundation for your later years where you appear an enchantingly evergreen beauty. In case if you are looking for some anti-aging secrets and beauty tips, start with healthy diet. A good and balanced diet will provide you all essential nutrients that are essential in developing fit body and glowing skin. The vitamins such as A, C and D will nourish your skin and make it more supple.

Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county, to a foreign country, but not to where the guilt is.

Bring together all your senses - Sight, Sound, Smell, Taste and Touch. Direct your mind to improve each of them. Imagine yourself pictures of yourself where you hear more, taste better, see well, smell proper and become sensual to touch.
Practice them at least once every two days. You will see your awareness is functioning better than all who are of your age.

Surround yourself with what you love whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

The body diverts blood away from the skin to the 'essential' organs as a result of lack of sleep, giving your complexion that fatigued look and slack muscle tone. Adequate sleep is one of the best beauty treat-ments available!

Enjoy the simple things.

Alpha hydroxy acids, or AHAs, are extracted from sources such as apples, grapes, lemons and passion fruit (in the form of fruit acids), milk (as lactic acid) and sugar cane (as glycolic acid). Applied to the skin, they act as a skin peel, increasing exfoliation and stimulating the turnover of new cells. While dermatologists can use a stronger solution for immediate effect, products bought over the counter need 4-8 weeks to take effect.

Keep only cheerful friends.

Maintain a healthy weight. Overweight is hard on the joints and it's hard on the heart that has to work overtime to carry the extra weight. Not only that, but fat can sit in nasty places like artery walls where it stops blood from getting where it needs to go. Heart attacks are not very youthful. Underweight isn't much better. Bones and muscles get robbed of building material to give the rest of the body energy. It wrecks your kidneys and can lead to early menopause and osteoporosis.

Tooth Whitening Process and Research

Teeth whitening is the process of removing stains and discolouration from teeth and improving their colour through a bleaching process to make them look “whiter”. Many people are satisfied with the sparkle they get from brushing twice daily with a fluoride-containing toothpaste, cleaning between their teeth once a day and the regular cleanings at your dentist's office. If you decide you would like to go beyond this to make your smile look brighter, you should investigate all of your options.

Professional bleaching is the most common form of tooth whitening. Your dentist will be able to tell you if you are suitable for the treatment, and will supervise it if you are. First the dentist will put a rubber shield or a gel on your gums to protect the soft tissue. They will then apply the whitening product to your teeth, using a specially made tray which fits into your mouth like a gum-shield.

Teeth can become discoloured over a period of time. Discolouration can be caused by several factors including ageing, smoking, consumption of staining foods and beverages, staining caused by medication and hereditary factors. Professional teeth whitening refers to a technique where a whitener is applied to your teeth by your dentist in their dental office. In contrast, at-home teeth whitening is a process where the dental patient takes the bleaching materials home with them and performs their bleaching treatments on their own, unsupervised.

Research has shown that teeth whitening is perfectly safe for teeth and gums. This is because the teeth whitening procedures we use do not change the structure of the teeth; only the colour of teeth is affected. Side effects of tooth bleaching include: chemical burns, sensitive teeth, and overbleaching. Rebound, or teeth losing the bleached effect and darkening, is also an issue, with some studies showing the rebound effect over 30 days.

Using a laser with a whitening gel, this is an in-office bleaching system. The translucent bleaching gel is applied to the teeth and a laser light is used to activate the crystals to absorb the energy from the light and penetrate the teeth enamel to increase the lightening effect on the teeth. The length of time in the cosmetic dentist's chair depends on the degree of discoloration you have.

For whitening at home, your dentist can make trays to hold the whitening gel that fit your teeth precisely. Home whitening usually takes two to three weeks. Over-the-counter kits also are widely available for home use. Talk to your dentist if you want to use these home products. Be sure to use them according to directions to avoid overuse and possible damage to your teeth and mouth.

On average, teeth whitening may cost approximately $450-$500 with the results lasting for several months or more, depending on how well you do maintaining your whiter smile. On the low end, whitening strips start at about $25 in the drug store. In-office whitening procedures can cost anywhere from $400 to $900, depending on the product, the provider and the location where the procedure is performed.

Tooth whitening is the most common cosmetic service provided by dentists, and there are also a growing number of over-the-counter tooth whitening products to choose from.

Ways to Handle Impulsivity

Impulsivity is reacting to a situation without considering the consequences. People who are overly impulsive, seem unable to curb their immediate reactions or think before they act. As a result, they may blurt out answers to questions or inappropriate comments, or run into the street without looking. Their impulsivity may make it hard for a child to wait for things they want or to take their turn in games. They may grab a toy from another child or hit when they are upset.

The tendency to jump into a situation without thinking or making a plan of attack characterizes the impulsive child. This behavior is evident in approaching academic work and everyday life. Helping the child control impulsivity may require consistent and concerted effort from everyone concerned. Modeling rather than talking through control techniques should be used.

When other people do not understand the reasons for this behaviour it often leads to rejection and criticism from others. Impulsivity can therefore lead to social isolation as the person alienates existing friendships and cannot make new ones.

Impulsivity often arises in situations where the person is confused or fearful. These can be minimised by a predictable daily schedule. Also any outbursts should not be automatically written off as impulsivity and ignored. It may be indicating a cause of fear or confusion that needs to be dealt with. When lack of awareness is not an issue the person may apologise later. Try to be sensitive to this despite any lingering anger or annoyance on your part. Prolonged complaints about the behaviour afterward are not likely to help as usually their lack of control was not by choice on their part.

Try to remember it is the impulsivity that is at fault, not your loved one. Generally they will not be speaking or acting intentionally to annoy you or hurt your feelings. Separating the person from the behaviour can go a long way to coping with the situation.

Dealing with impulsivity

It is possible that a behavior is a response to something that needs your attention. Don't be too quick to discount it as an outburst.
Stay calm. This will help you remain able to think and not react emotionally and impulsively yourself. In addition, staying calm may help the person calm down.
Let the person know that yelling is not the best way to get your attention and offer alternative methods for getting your attention.
Remember, although the things being said are hurtful or embarrassing, generally the person is not doing this intentionally.
Medications may be helpful for outbursts and physically inappropriate behavior. Talk to your physician.
Before starting a new project do your thinking on paper. You will make quicker and better decisions if you write down the pros and cons of a line of action. This doesn't take time, it saves time.
To avoid impulsive purchases at the grocery store, plan your meals out before you make up your shopping list. This will also save time because you will know exactly what you need to buy.

Night Time Phone Use Linked to Sleep Problems

But be careful. According to research undertaken by the Electromagnetic Academy based at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, cell phones disrupt sleep patterns, especially the light phases of sleep.

Mobile phone radiation adversely affects the phases of sleep important for repairing the body and mind after the daily routine. Also, headaches were more prevalent in people exposed to cell phones during their sleep. Symptoms reported are anxiety, tension and tiredness. The researchers found no difference between people who claimed to be sensitive to cell phone radiation and those who did not.

This is a part of an ongoing controversy regarding cell phones and health. The FDA and FCC are concerned with these issues and to that end have posted a Web site to try and answer consumer questions. Cell phones have been blamed for a variety of illnesses including cancer and brain deterioration.

A new study by researchers in the US and Sweden suggests that using a mobile phone could interfere with your quality of sleep. The study is published in a peer-reviewed online journal that publishes new articles on all aspects of electromagnetic theory and applications.

Tips to improve Sleep problems and deprivation

Be aware of nutritional content. Know your vitamins and minerals, how much of each you need and what foods are rich in these nutrients.
Avoid fatty foods, especially those high in cholesterol. Have your doctor check your cholesterol level and try to keep it under control. And remember, fatty foods produce fatty people.
Turn off the TV at night. Some teens fall asleep with the TV on, and some are so used to the noise they think they can't sleep without it. Not true! The TV noises and flashing lights will only keep you from getting a sound sleep. If you can remember things you heard during your sleep, you're not sleeping well.
Try caffeine free drinks. Try reducing caffeine by switching to something healthier, like bottled water. Okay, okay, if that's too much to ask, at least try a caffeine-free version of your favorite drink.
Turn off the cell phone. What's so important it can’t wait until morning? Unless you have a really good reason--like your parent works at night and might need to reach you, turn it off and get some rest.
Sleep in the same bed nightly.
If important ideas and thoughts are filling your mind and keeping you awake, have a notepad beside the bed. Writing them down will allow you to let go of them until you can properly deal with them during the day.
Try a midday catnap; You'll gain much needed sleep and feel rested.
Try some fresh air and sunshine during the day.
Sugary treats do taste delicious, but they are filled with empty calories, and not only supply little nutrition, but they also cause weight gain.
Eat three balanced meals a day. Don't skip breakfast or you'll spend the rest of the day feeling hungry.
Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Use these to replace greasy doughnuts, potato chips and sweets as snacks.

Smoke More, Sleep Less

Cigarette smoking has been associated with a high prevalence of sleep-related complaints. However, its effects on sleep architecture have not been fully examined. The primary objective of this investigation was to assess the impact of cigarette smoking on sleep architecture.

Sleep disturbances are a common side effect of nicotine withdrawal. Some people will sleep much more than usual through this phase of cessation, while others have difficulty getting any sleep at all. If you find yourself suffering from insomnia during the first few weeks after you quit smoking, try a few of these natural remedies to ease your discomforts.

Remember, the physical withdrawal phase of quitting tobacco is a temporary condition. Your sleep patterns will return to normal soon, providing you didn’t have insomnia before cessation. If symptoms persist beyond the first month or so, schedule a visit with your doctor. The current lifestyle greatly affects the sleeping pattern of human beings. Among many causes, smoking is one main cause for sleeping disturbances.

Smokers spend more time in a light sleep. Non-smokers spend more time in a deep sleep, allowing them to feel more awake the next day. A reason for this is nicotine and its impact on the brain.

Smoking cigarettes impairs sleep quality, possibly because of nicotine withdrawal, according to a study in the February issue of Chest, the journal of the American College of Chest Physicians. The study is among the first to isolate the effects of smoking on sleep. In previous research, it was unclear whether changes in sleep patterns were from smoking itself or from the medical conditions underlying smoking such as heart or respiratory disease. A strong correlation was found between smoking and various complaints of ill health as well as between smoking and sleep duration and quality of sleep. The results suggest that there is a strong relationship between the constituents of tobacco smoke and poor sleeping habits.

Cigarettes contain nicotine that affects sleep. It is a stimulant that keeps you awake. But smokers are not aware of this fact. Rather they claim that a puff of cigarette smoke makes them feel calmer and helps them relax. On the contrary, nicotine stimulates the mind and the body. It interferes with the body’s ability to fall and stay asleep. Nicotine is a stimulant drug that once it wore off threw the smoker into a physiologically depressed state. To overcome this depressant effect the smoker would smoke again to stimulate him or herself. Soon it would wear off and the endless cycle would be repeated over and over. Blood sugar and hormone levels would skyrocket, only to come crashing down later. By the end of the day the smoker could be physically exhausted from this chronic stimulant/depressant roller coaster. They had to adjust their sleep around these effects.

The availability of objective data on sleep architecture, with self-reported information on smoking status, provides an opportunity to characterize sleep architecture among current, former, and never smokers in a large community-based sample. Previous analyses of a subset of the cohort have shown that current smokers and former smokers, compared with never smokers, have greater amounts of stage 1 and 2 sleep.

Alcoholism and Other Addictions

Alcoholism is a disease in which a person craves alcohol, is unable to limit his or her drinking, needs to drink greater amounts to get the same effect, and has withdrawal symptoms after stopping alcohol use. Alcoholism affects physical and mental health, and causes problems with family, friends and work. It is a pattern of compulsive use of alcohol in which individuals devote substantial periods of time to obtaining and consuming alcoholic beverages despite adverse psychological or physical consequences, eg, depression, blackouts, liver disease, or other consequences.

Chronic dependence on the use of alcohol which leads to interference with health and to social and economic problems. Withdrawal of alcohol from a person with alcoholism leads to psychological and physical symptoms. A treatable, progressive condition or illness characterized by excessive consumption of alcohol to the extent that the individual's physical and mental health, personal relationships, social conduct, or job performances are impaired.

While the ingestion of alcohol is, by definition, necessary to develop alcoholism, the use of alcohol does not predict the development of alcoholism. The quantity, frequency and regularity of alcohol consumption required to develop alcoholism varies greatly from person to person.

Multiple tools are available to those wishing to conduct screening for alcoholism. Identification of alcoholism may be difficult because there is no detectable physiologic difference between a person who drinks frequently and a person with the condition. Identification involves an objective assessment regarding the damage that imbibing alcohol does to the drinker's life compared to the subjective benefits the drinker perceives from consuming alcohol.

Most people with alcoholism or those who abuse alcohol enter treatment reluctantly because they deny that they have a problem. Health problems or legal difficulties may prompt treatment. If you aren't dependent on alcohol but are experiencing the adverse effects of drinking, the goal of treatment is to reduce alcohol-related problems — often through counseling or a brief intervention, which usually involves alcohol-abuse specialists who can establish a specific treatment plan. Interventions may include goal setting, behavioral modification techniques, use of self-help manuals, counseling and follow-up care at a treatment center. Another option may be aversion therapy, in which drinking alcohol is paired with a strong aversive response — such as nausea or vomiting induced by a medication. After repeated pairing, the alcohol itself causes the aversive response, which decreases the likelihood of relapse.

Depression is a common cause of alcoholism as the depressed person seeks a way out of their problems or a relief from insomnia. Unfortunately, alcohol is itself a depressant, so the problem is only compounded. Anxiety can be temporarily relieved by alcohol, but this may lead to repeated intake and dependence. Several levels of care are available to treat alcoholism. Medically managed hospital-based detoxification and rehabilitation programs are used for more severe cases of dependence that occur with medical and psychiatric complications. Medically monitored detoxification and rehabilitation programs are used for people who are dependent on alcohol and who do not require more closely supervised medical care. The purpose of detoxification is to safely withdraw the alcoholic from alcohol and to help him or her enter a treatment program.

The urge to drink again during withdrawal can be very strong. Some people may put themselves into dangerous situations. After withdrawal symptoms go away, it's important for the person to join a treatment or sobriety program.

Restless Legs Syndrome in Adults

Restless Legs Syndrome is a neurologic movement disorder characterized by unusual, uncomfortable sensations (paresthesias/dysesthesias) deep within the calves and/or thighs, resulting in an irresistible urge to move the legs, and motor restlessness in response to or in an effort to alleviate discomfort. common neurological disorder that causes pulling, tearing, and jerking sensations in the legs when a person is at rest. It is a feeling of uneasiness and restlessness in the legs after going to bed (sometimes causing insomnia); may be relieved temporarily by walking or moving the legs. Restless legs syndrome (RLS, or Wittmaack-Ekbom's syndrome) is poorly understood, often misdiagnosed, and believed to be a neurological disorder.

The most distinctive or unusual aspect of the condition is that lying down and trying to relax activates the symptoms. As a result, most people with RLS have difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep. Left untreated, the condition causes exhaustion and daytime fatigue.

The cause of restless leg syndrome is unknown in most patients. However, restless leg syndrome has been associated with pregnancy, obesity, smoking, iron deficiency and anemia, nerve disease, polyneuropathy (which can be associated with hypothyroidism, heavy metal toxicity, toxins, and many other conditions), other hormone disease, such as diabetes, and kidney failure (which can be associated with vitamin and mineral deficiency).

As described above, people with RLS feel uncomfortable sensations in their legs, especially when sitting or lying down, accompanied by an irresistible urge to move about. These sensations usually occur deep inside the leg, between the knee and ankle; more rarely, they occur in the feet, thighs, arms, and hands. Although the sensations can occur on just one side of the body, they most often affect both sides.

The first principle of therapy to treat restless legs syndrome (RLS) is to avoid substances or foods that may be causing or worsening the problem. Avoiding alcohol, caffeine, and nicotine may partly relieve your symptoms. Your health care provider should review your medications and determine whether any drug you are taking could be causing the problem.

You may benefit from physical therapy, such as stretching, hot or cold baths, whirlpool baths, hot or cold packs, limb massage, or vibratory or electrical stimulation of the feet and toes before bedtime.

Supplementation to correct vitamin deficiencies, electrolytes, or iron may improve symptoms in some patients. In iron deficiency, for example, ferrous sulfate 325 mg may be given with 250 mg of vitamin C. Absorption is increased by taking this on an empty stomach and waiting 60 minutes before eating.

For mild symptoms, use an over-the-counter pain reliever to reduce twitching and restless sensations. Cut back on alcohol, caffeine and tobacco. Try taking a hot bath and massaging your legs before bedtime to help you relax. Relaxation techniques, such as meditation and yoga, can help you relax before bed. Apply warm or cool packs, which can help relieve sensations in your legs.

Treatment for Eating Disorders
Treatment can include medical supervision, nutritional counseling, and therapy. The professionals try to address a child's perception about his or her body size, shape, eating, and foods. There are a variety of treatment options available: individual therapy, group therapy, nutritional support, psychiatric care, outpatient, inpatient, residential and we can help you locate these resources. Fluoxetine and other antidepressants may reduce binge-eating episodes and help alleviate depression in some patients. Low mood may be difficult to spot in an uncommunicative teenager, and lack of interest in physical activity is not something most parents worry about in their teenage daughters.

Prevention for Eating Disorders
Parents and other family members are important in helping a person see that his or her normal body shape is perfectly fine and that being excessively thin can be dangerous.
To make sure that your child knows that you love him or her for who she is and what she does, not how she looks.
By reducing or eliminating behaviors or thoughts that lead to disordered eating, and preventing relapse.
Maintaining a regular diary of eating, thoughts and feelings can be helpful.

Hypersensitivities The Princess and the Pea Syndrome

Hypersensitivity refers to undesirable (damaging, discomfort-producing and sometimes fatal) reactions produced by the normal immune system. Hypersensitivity is a state of altered reactivity in which the body reacts with an exaggerated immune response to a foreign agent; allergy is a synonym for hypersensitivity. anaphylaxis is a form of hypersensitivity. Hypersensitivity reactions require a pre-sensitized (immune) state of the host. The causes of the hypersensitive are protein component, water which contains the chemicals and bactria, unware exposure to avery toxic chemical.

The Gell and Coombs classification (below) distinguishes four types of hypersensitivity reactions based on antibody (I-III) or cell-mediated (IV) reactions and constitutes a logical framework for understanding hypersensitivity reactions although. Hypersensitivity to flying insects such as flies and mosquitos is the most common cause of itching in horses. Itching is caused by the bite itself because flies have chewing mouthparts and the bite is painful for the horse. However, it’s not only the bite as many horses are hypersensitive to the saliva of the insect and this increases the inflammation.

There are several types hypersensitivity and they are antibody-dependent, immune complex, cell-mediated, the immediate in which this have guinea pig is injected intravenously with an antigen. For this example, bovine serum albumin (BSA, a protein) will be used. After two weeks, the same antigen will be reinjected into the same animal.

Within a few minutes, the animal begins to suffocate and dies by a process called anaphylactic shock, stimulatory which have binding to cell surface components, the antibodies recognize and bind to the cell surface receptors, which either prevents the intended ligand binding with the receptor or mimics the effects of the ligand, thus impairing cell signalling and the delayed hypersensitivity (DH), delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) that which takes 24 to 72 hours to develop and is mediated by T lymphocytes rather than by antibodies; usually used to denote the subset of type IV hypersensitivity involving cytokine release and macrophage activation, as opposed to direct cytolysis, but sometimes used more broadly, even as a synonym of type IV h.

Only someone as refined and delicate as a princess would be able to feel a single pea through 23 mattresses. This strange statement is evolved from the fairy that the measurement of a true princess was one who was sensitive enough to feel a pea under a tall stack of mattresses.

The immune system is an integral part of human protection against disease, but the normally protective immune mechanisms can sometimes cause detrimental reactions in the host. Such reactions are known as hypersensitivity reactions, and the study of these is termed immunopathology. Hypersensitivity is a state of altered reactivity in which the body reacts with an exaggerated immune response to a foreign substance. Hypersensitivity reactions are classified as immediate or delayed, types I and IV, respectively, in the Gell and Coombs classification of immune responses.

Hypersensitivity can also be a symptom of ADD and ADHD (Symptoms of Adult ADD) and may also be associated with certain mood disorders such as schizophrenia, OCD, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder and as part of the cycle whenever someone experiences panic attacks. If you are experiencing hypersensitivity to the extent that is a health threat, see the appropriate mental health professional.

New Treatment for Fibromyalgia (FMS)

While fibromyalgia is one of the most common diseases affecting the muscles, its cause is currently unknown. Fibromyalgia is a clinical syndrome defined by chronic widespread muscular pain, fatigue and tenderness. Fibromyalgia affects predominantly women (over 80 percent) between the ages of 35 and 55. The degree of symptoms may vary greatly from day to day with periods of flares. Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition characterized by widespread pain in your muscles, ligaments and tendons, as well as fatigue and multiple tender points places on your body where slight pressure causes pain.

Fibromyalgia is agreed upon as one thing—a disease entity or a painful entity. In fact, fibromyalgia really is a calamity. Tender points are places on the neck, shoulders, back, hips, arms or legs that hurt when touched. Every muscle in their body shouted out in pain. Treatment programs are most effective when they combine patient education, stress reduction, regular exercise, and medications. In addition, they felt devoid of energy as though someone had unplugged their power supply. The pain is biological, psychological, and social. It affects all parameters, including even a spiritual or religious component. Many medical conditions can cause pain in different areas of the body, mimicking fibromyalgia.

Cause of fibromyalgia
Genetics
Sleep disturbances
Dopamine abnormality
Changes in muscles metabolism
Abnormal levels of Substance P in their spinal fluid
Symptoms of Fibromyalgia
abnormal sleep architecture
heightened sensitivity
fatigue
sensitivity to noise and temperature
mood changes
musculoskeletal pain
Environmental change
physical problems
memory problems
anxiety and depressive
irritable bowel syndrome
Diagnosis for Fibromyalgia
However, blood tests for TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) and ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate) values can differentiate these diagnoses from fibromyalgia. The diagnosis of fibromyalgia is made purely on clinical grounds based on the doctor's history and physical examination.

Treatment for Fibromyalgia
Medication, while important, is not the only treatment. Patient education, exercise, self-management skills and alternative therapies help treat fibromyalgia symptoms.

Low doses of sedating antidepressants (e.g. amitriptyline and trazodone) have been used to reduce the sleep disturbances that are associated with fibromyalgia.
Considering nontraditional treatment options for your fibromyalgia pain.
Some topical remedies ar used for the treatment of fibromyalgia.
Current studies indicate the best pharmacologic treatment for treating pain (and improving disrupted sleep patterns) is low doses of tricyclic compounds including cyclobenzaprine and amitriptyline .
Muscle relaxants, anti-epileptics (such as Neurontin and Lyrica) and other drug categories may be prescribed as well. Each issue of the Fibromyalgia Network Journal contains information about new treatment options, as well as advice about how to make use of existing medications to minimize fibromyalgia symptoms.
Prevention for Fibromyalgia
Schedule time to relax each day. Deep-breathing exercises and meditation will help reduce the stress that can bring on symptoms.
Do exercise regularly.
Stress reduction might include simple stress modification at home or work, biofeedback, relaxation tapes, psychological counseling, and/or support among family members, friends, and doctors.

Information on Child ADHD

Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is the name of a group of behaviors found in many children and adults. This is mostly occur in boys than in girls. These behaviors contribute to significant problems in relationships, learning and behavior. About half of children who have ADHD continue to be easily distracted, have mood swings, hot tempers and are unable to complete tasks. There must be clear evidence of clinically significant impairment in social, academic, or occupational functioning.

The causes of the child ADHD are food allergies, depression, genetics, diet, undetected seizures. The very real need for structure with a child with ADD the desperate need for rebuilding and maintaining self esteem and far from least, names of organizations and educational institutions which would be of value not only to your child but to yourself as a parent. Childhood ADHD is diagnosed after a child has shown six or more specific symptoms of inactivity and/or hyperactivity on a regular basis for more than six months in more than two settings.

Types of Child ADHD
There are three types of the child ADHD. They are as follows

Combination of Inattentive/Hyperactive/Impulsive Child ADHD
Combination of Hyperactive/Impulsive Type Child ADHD
Inattentive Type Child ADHD
Symptoms of Child ADHD
Difficulty following instructions
Loses things necessary for tasks or activities
Low concentration
Have difficulty playing quietly.
Talks excessively
Forgets things
Do not finish tasks.
Often fails to give close attention to details or makes careless mistakes in schoolwork, work, or other activities.
Prevention for Child ADHD
Set specific times for waking up, eating, playing, doing homework, doing chores, watching TV or playing video games, and going to bed. Post the schedule where your child will always see it. Explain any changes to the routine in advance.
Use More Immediate Consequences - ADHD children require more immediate feedback or consequences for their behavior and activities than do normal children. This feedback must be clear, specific, and occur as close in time after the behavior that is the target of change as circumstances permit, if it is to be maximally effective in developing and maintaining positive behaviors in ADHD children.

Reward your child when he or she tries to finish school work, not just for good grades. You can give extra rewards for earning better grades.
Diagnosis of Child ADHD
The diagnosis of ADHD involves the gathering of information from several sources, including school, caregivers, and parents. Your childs primary care doctor can determine whether your child has ADHD using standard guidelines developed by the American Academy of Pediatrics. These diagnosis guidelines are for children 6 to 12 years of age.

Treatment for Child ADHD
All doctors across the board - agree that ADHD medications are not the cure for Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder and A.D.D., but simply a means of minimizing the symptoms.

A team effort, with parents, teachers and doctors working together, is the best way to help your child.
The long-term treatment with a combination of medications and behavioral therapy is far superior to just medication treatment.
Some children benefit from counseling or from structured therapy.

Light on Adult ADHD

Adult ADHD is also called as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. An overwhelming majority (92%) of adults diagnosed with ADHD. The ADHD affects on school performance. Symptoms continue into adulthood for about 60% of children with ADHD. Many people have a stereotypical picture in their head of what someone with attention deficit disorder looks like: hyperactive, loud, a whirlwind of energy and unchecked impulses. It is estimated that between 3 and 5 percent of children have ADHD, or approximately 2 million children in the United States. Adults with ADHD can be withdrawn and antisocial. The diagnosis of ADD can only be made on the basis of a detailed history and mental status examination. Although attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is usually associated with children, it can be a lifelong disorder. The ADHD afflicts approximately 3% to 5% of school-age children and an estimated 60% of those will maintain the disorder into adulthood.

Causes of Adult ADHD
Environmental factors
Iron deficiency
Minor head injuries
Social factors
Genetics
Symptoms of Adult ADHD
Keeping you from accomplishing your goals
moodyness
Creates relationships problems
Restlessness
Hyperactivity
Low self-esteem
Procrastination
Diagnosis for Adult ADHD
The diagnostic guidelines also contain specific requirements for determining when the symptoms indicate ADHD.

Accurate diagnosis of ADHD in adults is challenging and requires attention to early development and symptoms of inattention, distractibility, impulsivity and emotional lability.
A coach works with an adult with ADHD to help them carry out the routine activities of daily life in an organized, goal-oriented, and timely fashion. This is effective when combined with traditional treatments for ADHD such as medication and psychological therapy.
A very small proportion of people with ADHD have a neurological disorder called Tourette syndrome. People with Tourette syndrome have various nervous tics and repetitive mannerisms, such as eye blinks, facial twitches, or grimacing.
It is important that the child receive a thorough examination and appropriate diagnosis by a well-qualified professional.
The developmental history would be consistent with ADHD, including evidence of problems with peers, other delays such as bed wetting, school failure, suspensions, or special interventions such as sitting in front of the class, etc.
Treatment for Adult ADHD
For several reasons, family physicians may be uncomfortable evaluating and treating patients with symptoms of ADHD, particularly adults without a previously established ADHD diagnosis.

The most effective treatment is long-term use of a schedule II drug with potential for abuse.
A psychiatrist can provide therapy and prescribe any needed medications. Child psychologists are also qualified to diagnose and treat ADHD.
For many adults, medications lessen the disorder's internal noise and outward chaos, helping them to gain some sense of self-control.
There are many theories as to why fewer females are diagnosed and treated with ADHD.
The Omega-3 fatty acid supplement should be the first-line treatment for children with ADHD.
The behavioral treatment may be used for the treatment of the adult ADHD.

How People deal Learning Disabilities

Learning disabilities are problems that affect the brain's ability to receive, process, analyze, or store information. The most common and best-known verbal learning disability is dyslexia, which causes people to have trouble recognizing or processing letters and the sounds associated with them. Learning disabilities are present in at least 10 percent of the population.Although the number of children with learning disabilities is unknown, about 5% of the school-age population in the US receives special educational services for learning disabilities. There are as many learning styles as there are individuals. There are two types of the learning disabilities and they are information processing deficits this will contain the input, integration, storage, and output and specific learning disabilities this will contains the reading disability, disorders of speaking and listening, writing disability and nonverbal learning disability. Memory may be defective, including short- and long-term memory, memory use (eg, rehearsal), and verbal recall or retrieval.

People with learning disabilities have average or above-average intelligence, but their difficulties in managing the information their brains receive hold them back in school and at work, causing problems with self-esteem. One of the most painful aspects of having a learning disability is to have your brain’s inability to process information in certain ways mistaken for low intelligence. The disability usually only affects certain limited areas of a child's development. In fact, rarely are learning disabilities severe enough to impair a person's potential to live a happy, normal life.

Causes of Learning Disabilities
Environmental factors
Complications during pregnancy
Genetic influences
CNS infections
Symptoms of Learning Disabilities
difficulty speaking
doesn't recognize words previously learned
math problem
spelling
direct attention
difficulty in understanding
listening
problems with physical coordination
Diagnosis for Learning Disabilities
Diagnosis includes intellectual, educational, speech and language, medical, and psychologic evaluations. The important thing is to follow up on any concerns, whether you notice something amiss at home or a teacher raises a red flag. A specialist in learning disabilities may not be as knowledgeable about other conditions that may contribute to learning difficulties. For the diagnosisof learning disabilities IQ test can be taken which will give the results for there learning disabilities. The occupational therapist will tests sensory disorders that can lead to learning problems. Specially trained educators may perform a diagnostic educational evaluation assessing the child's academic and intellectual potential and level of academic performance.

Treatment for Learning Disabilities
The good news about learning disabilities is that while they’re permanent, they’re also treatable. Learning disabilities fall within the class of neurological issues called developmental disabilities, in that they are chronic, they limit success in one or more major life areas, and they cannot be reversed by medication. Among these sources are doctors, special education teachers, and mental health professionals who can help identify learning disabilities and recommend the right combination of medical, psychosocial, and educational treatment. You will also be provided with practical solutions to help children and adolescents with learning disabilities greatly improve their academic achievement as well as their self-esteem.

Brief Description of Tourette Syndrome

Tourette syndrome (TS) is named for the French doctor Georges Gilles de la Tourette, who first described the condition in 1885. Tourette syndrome is also called Tourette's disorder, Gilles de la Tourette syndrome. Tourette's was once considered a rare and bizarre syndrome. The males are affected about three to four times more often than females. Tourette's is a rare condition. People with Tourette's have normal life expectancy and intelligence. The symptoms of TS generally appear before the age of 18, with the median age of onset being 7 years of age. This will occur between the age group of 7 and 10 years.

The exact mechanism affecting the inherited vulnerability has not been established, and the precise etiology of Tourette syndrome is not known. Tourette's Syndrome expanded to include other conditions such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, non-OCD anxiety disorders, Executive Dysfunction, depression, Bipolar Disorder, autism spectrum disorders including Asperger's Disorder, 'rage attacks,' sensory integration issues, and sleep disorders. Tourette syndrome can be a chronic condition with symptoms lasting a lifetime.

Symptoms of Tourette syndrome
vision irregularities
shoulder
shrugging
tension build
Diagnosis of Tourette syndrome
The diagnosis of Tourette syndrome is done by the doctors make after verifying that the patient has had both motor and vocal tics for at least 1 year. The existence of other neurological or psychiatric conditions. The magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computerized tomography (CT), and electroencephalogram (EEG) scans, or certain blood tests may be used to rule out other conditions that might be confused with Tourette syndrome. The neurologist may ask you to keep track of the frequency and kinds of tics your child is having.

Treament for Tourette syndrome
The majority of people with TS require no medication for tic suppression.

Neuroleptics are the most consistently useful medications for tic suppression; a number are available but some are more effective than others (for example, haloperidol and pimozide).
Assure an adequate duration of any drug trial on sufficient dosage. An adequate length of drug trial may be difficult for the clinician who is faced with his patient's urgent need for effective symptom control. However, it is important since premature discontinuation of a medication trial will only result in failure and a series of such "failures" will make the patient feel that he or she is incurable.
Benzodiazopenes and clonidine have also been shown to work to a degree on TS symptoms but they are generally less effective than other drugs.
Psychotherapy may be used for the treatment of Tourette syndrome.
Creative activities such as writing, painting, or making music help focus the mind on other things - and they help it develop. There's speculation that composer Mozart and British writer Samuel Johnson both had TS.

Child and Toddler Development Stages

Children are born learners. Children grow, develop, and learn throughout their lives from birth and infancy to adulthood. The early years of a child's life are crucial for cognitive, social and emotional development. The program for children 6 months to 2 1/2 years of age is held in the infant and toddler facility.A child's development is unique and complex. Parenting is important to you because your children matter more than anyone in the world. As a caring adult, you want to give your kids the best. So you strive to understand child development and child discipline and become a better parent. The teachers create the physical and psychological environment that encourages children to play and thereby direct their own cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development.

The teachers support the children's development through interesting, challenging, and fun activities, sensitive listening, and ongoing relationships. Although children develop through a generally predictable sequence of steps and milestones, they may not proceed through these steps in the same way or at the same time. Therefore, it is important that we take every step necessary to ensure that children grow up in environments where their social, emotional and educational needs are met. Children between the ages of 6 and 12 grow and mature at very different rates. These include children mind developments, emotional developments, behavioral developments, health and nutrition, language developments, social developments, development of children with autism.

Children are important people who deserve to be cared for by people who respect, trust, and accept them for who they are.
Be able to hold the head upright. If the head falls backwards, put the baby in a semi-reclined position - sitting halfway up, with the head higher than the hips. Give support at the base of the neck, not at the back of the head.
The social, emotional, and cognitive needs of each child should be met by offering a variety of age-appropriate materials and activities supporting the child’s natural desire to explore, experiment and problem solve. Find an arrangement that fits your personal philosophy for your child’s care.
Develop self-awareness and acceptance about their own physical, social and emotional selves
Each of us has our own parenting style that is unique to our particular personality characteristics and philosophies on how children should be raised. Generally, these styles encompass some basic ideas on discipline, relationship building, and expectations.
Educate yourself about physical, emotional and cognitive development between the ages of one and five.
You will discover compelling insights on child parenting, child development, child behavior, child discipline and more that will help you understand where to start and how to create and maintain a lifetime closeness with your kids that is based on love and mutual respect.
Children learn to cope with their feelings by being allowed to experience the full range of their emotions.
Timid children need a lot of encouragement to attempt new activities, and even courageous children need parental love and support to try and try again until they have succeeded in their aims.
The child development faculty have been teaching the child development majors be family-oriented, and use developmentally appropriate practices when working with young children and their families.

Time Management Techniques and Definition

Time is precious thing so make the best use of it. Mind Tools teaches you personal time management skills. This personal time management guide and the accompanying newsletter are dedicated to building a stronger foundation for your success. One skill at a time. These are the simple, practical techniques that have helped the leading people in business, sport and public service reach the pinnacles of their careers. There are only 24 hours in your day, just the same as everybody else's. So how do you end up frustrated, angry, behind in your work, and dead on your feet?

Maybe because you don't know how to use those 24 hours to your advantage. If you use these skills well, then you will be able to function exceptionally well, even under intense pressure. Developing time management skills is a journey that may begin with this Guide, but needs practice and other guidance along the way. Your main source of problems or your major breakthrough may still be hiding in your blind spot. What you really manage is your activity during time, and defining outcomes and physical actions required is the core process required to manage what you do.

Tips for time management
set priorities and manage your time to meet deadlines
Handle people and projects that waste your time
Action Plans and Prioritized - To Do Lists help you focus on the most important short term activities.
Prioritize assignments - When studying, get in the habit of beginning with the most difficult subject or task.
Make Sure the Surroundings are Conducive to Studying: This will allow you to reduce distractions which can "waste time." If there are times in the residence halls or your apartment when you know there will be noise and commotion, use that time for mindless tasks.
Time management provides you with the opportunity to create a schedule that works for you, not for others. This personal attention gives you the flexibility to include the things that are most important to you.
If using your time wisely is a problem for you, you probably don't have a very good idea of where it all goes. It just seems to go! A good place to start, then, is to keep track of how you use your time. Get a Weekly schedule (available in the Learning Skills corner of the Counseling and Testing Center's Career Library) and faithfully keep track of how you use your waking hours for one week. The results will probably surprise you.
Successful leaders in almost every field organize each day according to the priority assigned to the activities to be accomplished. Make sufficient copies of the Daily Activity Guide to insure a two-week supply, and use the form as an aid in planning each day's work.
The objective is to change your behaviors over time to achieve whatever general goal you've set for yourself, such as increasing your productivity or decreasing your stress. So you need to not only set your specific goals, but track them over time to see whether or not you're accomplishing them.
Put things that are most important at the top and do them first. If it's easier, use a planner to track all of your tasks. And don't forget to reward yourself for your accomplishments.
Visualize your long term picture of success and put it in writing. Review your goal frequently. Your goal should be specific, measurable, achievable and compatible with where you are now. There should be an end date as well. Steven Covey calls this "Begin with the end in mind."
Planning your day can help you feel more in control of you life. Write a to-do list, putting the most important tasks at the top. Keep a schedule of your daily activities to minimize conflicts and last-minute rushes.

Healthy Sleep Tips

Make after-dinner playtime a relaxing time. Too much activity close to bedtime can keep children awake.
Establish a regular, relaxing bedtime routine such as soaking in a hot bath or hot tub and then reading a book or listening to soothing music.
Quantity and quality are very important. Most adults need between 7.5 to 8.5 hours of uninterrupted sleep. If you press the snooze button on the alarm in the morning you are not getting enough sleep. This could be due to not enough time in bed, external disturbances, or a sleep disorder.
If you are having trouble sleeping at night, try not to nap during the day - you will throw off your body clock and make it even more difficult to sleep at night. If you are feeling especially tired, and feel as if you absolutely must nap, be sure to sleep for less than 30 minutes, early in the day.
Eat a light dinner about two hours before sleeping. If you're prone to heartburn, avoid spicy or fatty foods, which can make your heartburn flare and prevent a restful sleep. Also, limit how much you drink before bed. Too much liquid can cause you to wake up repeatedly during the night for trips to the bathroom.
Therapists often use "reconditioning" as part of a treatment plan for insomnia. With this method, people are "reconditioned" to associate the bed with sleep. If you find yourself unable to sleep at all, get out of bed and move to another room, so that you only associate the bed with sleep and not with wakefulness.
Don't forget to use our soft and fluffy fleece bedding with any mattress you choose.
Drink yogurt or other product that can help neutralize the harmful effect of stress hormones on your digestive track.
Not everyone requires seven to nine hours of sleep each night. Some people require only five, others 10. To find out how much sleep your body needs, assess how you feel after different amounts of sleep. Pay attention to your energy level, productivity and general well-being.
Our sleep-wake cycle is regulated by a “circadian clock” in our brain and the body’s need to balance both sleep time and wake time. A regular waking time in the morning strengthens the circadian function and can help with sleep onset at night.
Sleep on a comfortable mattress and pillows. Make sure your mattress is comfortable and supportive. The one you have been using for years may have exceeded its life expectancy — about 9 or 10 years for most good quality mattresses. Have comfortable pillows and make the room attractive and inviting for sleep but also free of allergens that might affect you and objects that might cause you to slip or fall if you have to get up during the night.

Sleep Bruxism Information, Symptoms and Causes

Sleep bruxism is also known as nocturnal tooth grinding. Sleep Bruxism is a sterotyped movement disorder characterized by grinding or clenching of the teeth during sleep. This will cause the damage of the teeth. For many people, bruxism is an unconscious habit. The disorder has also been identified as nocturnal bruxism, nocturnal tooth-grinding and nocturnal tooth-clenching. The 8% of adults grind their teeth at night. Grinding can be noisy enough at night to bother sleeping partners. Like clenching, grinding can lead to jaw pain and other problems.

Eventually, bruxism can destroy the surrounding bone and gum tissue. In children sleep bruxism may be related to growth and development. It is a condition that affects both kids and adults. Sleep bruxism is a problem that affects 8% to 21% one of the U.S. population. The age for children is around 5 or 6. This usually occurs in the early part of sleep time. Sleep bruxism is believed to be related to changes that occur during sleep cycles in some individuals, and this is an active area of current research. The symptoms can cause temporomandibular joint problems (TMJ). Chewing is a complex neuromuscular activity that is controlled by reflex nerve pathways, with higher control by the brain.

Causes of Sleep Bruxism
The causes of sleep bruxism are physical and psychological also.

Dental problems
Suppressed anger
High levels of alcohol consumption
Stress
Masticatory muscle discomfort
Complications of Huntington’s disease
Symptoms of Sleep Bruxism
Worn tooth enamel, exposing the inside of your tooth
Earache
Jaw muscle discomfort
Headache
Sore gums
Disturbed sleep
Eating disorders
Chronic facial pain
Increased tooth sensitivity
Treatment for Sleep Bruxism
Most cases of bruxism are mild and may never require treatment. Occasional bruxism may not be harmful but when it occurs regularly, it may be associated with moderate to severe dental damage, facial pain, and disturbed sleep. Unfortunately, people with sleep bruxism usually aren't aware of the habit, so they aren't diagnosed with the condition until complications occur.

Custom-made by your dentist to fit your teeth, the appliance slips over the upper teeth and protects them from grinding against the lower teeth. While an appliance is a good way to manage bruxism, it is not a cure.
Massage the muscles of the neck, shoulders, and face. Search carefully for small, painful nodules called trigger points that can refer pain throughout the head and face.
Learn physical therapy stretching exercises to help the restore a normal balance to the action of the muscles and joint on each side of the head.
Behavior therapy. Once you discover that you have bruxism, you may be able to change the behavior by practicing proper mouth and jaw position. Concentrate on resting your tongue upward with your teeth apart and your lips closed. This should keep your teeth from grinding and your jaw from clenching.
For severe and persistent bruxism, a dentist may prescribe an oral appliance made of soft plastic to protect the teeth.
Prevention for Sleep Bruxism
Get plenty of sleep.
Try to relax in the hours before bedtime to reduce stress levels.
Jaw aligning exercises may be necessary for the prevention of the sleep bruxism.
Dental exams are the best way to screen against sleep bruxism.
Avoid eating hard foods like nuts, candies, steak.
Using caffeine, tobacco, cocaine or amphetamines seems to increase the risk of bruxism.
Stress reduction and anxiety management may reduce bruxism in persons prone to the condition.

Narcolepsy Diagnosis, Test Treatment and Prevention

Narcolepsy is a chronic neurological disorder, affecting the part of the brain that regulates when to be asleep and when to be awake. Narcolepsy is occured in between the age group of 11 to 26. The exact cause of narcolepsy is unknown. Almost 75% of patients with narcolepsy reported falling asleep while driving in one survey and 56% reported near accidents. Narcolepsy is a lifelong condition, but by implementing certain lifestyle changes and seeking medical help, narcoleptics can improve alertness and enjoy a full and active life. This also contains the various risk factors like as effects on mental functioning, physical problems and so on.

Symptoms of narcolepsy
Inability to use muscles
Sleep paralysis
Persistent drowsiness
Physical illness
Sleep attacks
Awake and refreshed feeling after each episode
Difficulty for a young adult to stay awake during classes or work
Daytime napping
Diagnosis of narcolepsy
A narcolepsy diagnosis requires several tests. If you are experiencing symptoms of narcolepsy, talk to your doctor.

Blood tests determines the presence of narcolepsy-related genes, or medical illnesses associated with excessive sleepiness.
To determine specific sleep disorders, the doctor will take a medical and family history and should be told of any medications being taken.
Two tests that are considered essential in confirming a diagnosis of narcolepsy are the polysomnogram (PSG) and the multiple sleep latency test (MSLT). Both tests are performed in a sleep lab.
By taking multiple sleep latency test we can diagnosise the narcolepsy.
The patient has been withdrawn from these medications within the last three weeks.
Cataplexy (abrupt loss of muscle tone or weakness that causes a person to stop all motor activity).
Diagnosis of narcolepsy can take a very long time, sometimes more than one year, or even up to several decades.
For this ECG may be preferred for the diagnosis which measures the heart's electrical activity.
Treatment for narcolepsy
With the help of antidepressants medications are may be used treat narcolepsy.
Eating light or vegetarian meals during the day and avoiding heavy meals prior to important activities may help reduce the odds of an attack after daytime meals.
Ritalin helps to reduce excessive daytime sleepiness and improves alertness. Side effects include headache, irritability, nervousness, and gastrointestinal problems.
Narcolepsy is treated by use of stimulating medications during the daytime. A new medication called modafanil seems to have fewer side effects than traditional stimulants.
Prevention for narcolepsy
There is no known prevention for narcolepsy. Problems may also occur when maintaining a consistent sleep and wake schedule is disrupted. This occurs when traveling between times zones and with shift workers on rotating schedules, particularly nighttime workers.

Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine which can causes the sleeping disorders.
Avoid situations that aggravate the condition if you are prone to attacks of narcolepsy.
Patients with narcolepsy cannot perform psychomotor tasks or maintain alertness as well as normal controls, even when treated with psychostimulants and REM-sleep-suppressing drugs.

Learn about Sleeping Disorder

There are two kinds of sleep: non-rapid eye movement eye movement (NREM) and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. A sleep disorder (somnipathy) is a medical disorder of the sleep patterns of a person or animal. Sleeping is the on of the most important factor in life. The sleep disorder is mainly occured in between the age group of 30 to 50 years and olders. Most of persons must have sleep 6 to7 hours and teenageers are sleep 8 to 9 hours. We have been dealing with sleeping issues for a long time, both personally and professionally. Many people have problems falling asleep, staying asleep or simply sleeping well. The sleep disorder is mainly appeared in men (4%) than in women (2.5%).

A lack of restorative rest can cause accidents on the job and on the road; affect your relationships, health, and mental prowess; and make you feel generally “disconnected” to the world around you. Failure to achieve a normal restful night of sleep is often the cause of a great deal of misery for patients and their loved ones. Some people's sleeping disorders are complex--commonly there are a combination of issues that need resolving, and for a lot of people it can take more than one step to cure their Insomnia or their Sleep Apnea. Sleep-wake cycles are governed by a complex group of biological processes that serve as internal clocks. An insufficient number of hours of sleep may lead to sleep deprivation. Some 40 million Americans suffer from chronic disorders of sleep and wakefulness.

Causes of sleep disorders
Anxiety
Physical problems
Abnormal behavioral
Tension
Psychiatric conditions
Depression
Symptoms of sleep disorders
Irritability
Feel lethargic
High blood pressure
Stress
Reduced work productivity
Excessive daytime sleepiness
Dont give proper concentration.
Treatment for sleep disorders
Through proper testing, diagnosis and care, sleep disorders can be managed and overcome.

The behavioral treatments may be used for the sleep disorders.
Under the guidance of a physician, most people eventually find relief through one or more treatment approaches.
Consultation can help evaluate patients for medical (including psychiatric) causes of insomnia. The evaluation team optimally should include a psychiatrist, neurologist, pulmonologist, sleep medicine specialist, and dietitian.
Dual Action Lunasom PM™ promotes natural restful sleep and relief of minor physical discomfort!
Some people also find that short-term use of over-the-counter sleep aids is helpful in temporarily easing sleep problems.
Quality of your sleep - times that you were awake during the night and what you did (e.g., stayed in bed with eyes closed, or got up, had a glass of milk, and meditated)

We always have to keep in mind that the skin reflects our internal state of health and nutrition. Also make sure to drink 8 to 10 glasses of water a day.

This unsightly bumpy appearance of cellulite on the skin is most commonly seen on the hips, thighs and buttocks of women. A woman's hormones are usually responsible for the regulation of their blood flow, fat, connective tissue and lymphatic drainage. Cellulite's formation is a result of complex physiological changes that occur in the subcutaneous fat layer. There are two types of cellulite and they are soft cellulite and hard cellulite. Hard cellulite is difficult to get rid of because it doesn't lift from the body easily. It's also harder to see because it attaches directly to the muscle. Soft cellulite is not as concentrated as hard cellulite and is much more visible. It occurs in large areas and, because it doesn't attach so strongly to the muscle, it's looser, often sagging from the body.

The Most Popular Diets

The most popular list changes over time, but these are currently the most popular diet fads or myths out there. Many changes have been made to what was once considered to be sound dietary advice. the most popular diets on the market: Atkins, Jenny Craig, Ornish, NutriSystem, Slim Fast, South Beach, Subway, Sugar Busters!, Weight Watchers and ZoneYour body naturally slows your metabolism while you sleep, you are still burning calories. Foods that take longer to digest actually burn more calories in the process of their own digestion.

Zone Diet - The Zone Diet has consistently remained one of the most popular diet search terms over the last 4 or 5 years. It is so much easier to eat fresh foods paying attention to portion sizes and giving in to the ocassional decadent delicacy along with exercise.
The most popular diet choice for men is the good old low-carb/high-protein Atkins approach. A quick-fix diet isn't typically successful in the long-run for either men or women. The best diet plan is the one you can stick with.
The body metabolizes carbohydrates first; cut down on carbs, and your body will burn fat. So you can eat all the protein and fat you want and still shed pounds.
As studies have come out promoting chocolate as a supplement to a healthy diet, the chocolate diet has come out as well. This diet focuses on decreased calorie consumption with liquid chocolate diet shakes. It acts as a vitamin replacement, and although effective in the short term, has not been found to stimulate metabolism or burn fat, as the diet claims. Rather, any weight lost is a direct effect of decreased caloric intake.
The second is the Negative Calorie Foods Cookbook. It offers three negative calorie diet programs and includes a great negative calorie food cookbook. It's designed to help increase your sluggish metabolism.

Juice diets or the grapefruit diet: fruit is so yummy, isn't it? Until that's all you get for a couple of days. You will be irritable, cranky, and possibly get a good case of the runs. You will lose weight and possibly a few friends. These diets are again for short-term immediate results and quick awesome regain of weight. They will not put you on the road to long-term, reasonable, and healthy weight loss and maintenance.
Diet pills are dangerous, even if they are herbal, and they simply do not address the issues that cause you to overeat. Beware illegal pharmacies giving prescriptions over the Internet. At best you will get a fake placebo for a lot of money, at worst you will harm your heart or have a stroke due to the stimulant effects of many of these drugs.
Eating sensibly has never been so easy with diets like the GI diet, Weight Watchers and Slimming World. They provide healthy eating guidelines for life and don't leave you feeling denied.
Foods that are low in calories, but high in fiber and other vitamins, will keep you satisfied and healthy while you lose weight.

Danish Quality Diet was tested and approved by Danish hospitals and clinics and was used to help thousands of people to lose weight. The goal of Danish Quality diet is to help a patient lose at least 10 pounds in 13 days.
The National Institutes of Health and university medical centers around the nation have spent many years and millions of dollars to test the Atkins diet versus the South Beach, the American Heart Association diet versus the Zone.
Detox diets - These diets are based on the theory that our bodies are continually subjected to toxins such as pesticides, food additives, high fat foods and alcohol. Detoxification takes these toxins out of the body. The length of the diet can vary but the main food groups included are organic fruit, vegetables, juices, herbal teas, rice and drinking lots and lots of water.

Protein Diets Plans and Protein Food

Protein is an extremely important part of all diet plans. A high protein diet is often recommended by bodybuilders and nutritionists to help efforts to build muscle and lose fat. High-protein, low-carbohydrate diets have been widely promoted in recent years as an effective approach to losing weight. These diets generally recommend dieters receive 30% to 50% of their total calories from protein. The Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) of protein according to U.S. government standards is 0.8 gram per kilogram (2.2 pounds) of ideal body weight for the adult. Some of these diets restrict healthful foods that provide essential nutrients and don't provide the variety of foods needed to adequately meet nutritional needs. People on high-protein diets are consuming up to 34% of their total calories in the form of protein and up to 53% of total calories from fat.

Normally the body burns carbohydrates for fuel this is the main source of fuel for your brain, heart and many other organs. Protein is a vital nutrient, essential to your health. Some are high protein and emphasize foods like meat, eggs and cheese, which are rich in protein and saturated fat. Some high-protein diets de-emphasize high-carbohydrate, high-fiber plant foods. All diets are made up of calories. It is the building block of muscle. Protein is measured by the gram. Everything you eat and drink (besides obvious calorie-free things like water and celery, etc.) has calories in it. Proteins help replace and form new tissue, transports oxygen and nutrients in our blood and cells, regulates the balance of water and acids, and is needed to make antibodies. Protein malnutrition leads to the condition known as kwashiorkor.

Lack of protein can cause growth failure, loss of muscle mass, decreased immunity, weakening of the heart and resp
